Insurance for Montgomery and Prince George's County, From Bethesda to Bowie

Bethesda and Silver Spring have plenty of high-rise and mid-rise condos near the Red Line. Rockville and Gaithersburg mix townhouses, single-family homes and planned neighborhoods like the Kentlands. Bowie has the older Levitt-built sections and newer subdivisions off Route 50. Laurel sits between Baltimore and DC on Route 1 and I-95.

 

Then there's the commute. I-270. The Capital Beltway. Metro. A lot of time on the road or the train.

 

Questions folks here should ask

 

  • Condo owners: Do you know where your association's master policy stops and your own condo policy starts?

  • Townhouses with an HOA: Same question. Is the roof yours or the association's to insure?

  • Renters near Metro: Is your stuff covered, and do you have liability coverage if a guest gets hurt?

  • Older homes: Is your dwelling coverage based on what it would cost to rebuild today, not what you paid?

  • Working in DC or Virginia: Your auto policy is generally based on where you live and keep the car. Is yours set up for Maryland?

  • Home-based businesses: A homeowners policy often has tight limits on business property. Have you checked yours?
